I'd like to take a minute and explain why I feel a need to give back to charity and who are the charitable influences in my life. I feel a need to give because I have been given so much. I have a great wife, kids and family and have so many things including my health and good friends to be thankful for. Listed below are a few people that inspire me to give!

The first example of charitable giving is my Mother. I still remember the time my Mom and I were driving in her bright red Turbo Volvo, cruising at about 50 miles an hour and her slamming on her brakes in front of a needy guy on a bus bench. She rolled down the window and gave me a twenty dollar bill and told me to give it to the guy. I told her no and said that he would probably buy beer with the money. She insisted and I insisted but she won and I gave the money to him begrudgingly. That happened more than once. After a while I understood what she was doing and what she was trying to teach me. In addition my Mom was also a great servant to her Church and the community, like serving soup at the soup kitchen on holiday's. My Mom is my greatest example of charitable giving.

Next is my Dad. He donates his time and money to animal shelters in his community and throughout the U.S. He loves and helps animals as much he does people, and he shows it with his time and financial contributions. In addition to that my Dad has always helped family and friends. I can't remember my Dad ever turning down a request for help, he's always willing to give!

With this said you can see why I have big shoes to fill. My effort in following my Mom and Dad's example has brought me to create uPlej. In no way could I have done this myself. There are many people who have helped bring uPlej to life including Donny Deutsch from "the Big Idea" show on CNBC. He was the reason I got off my "butt" and made uPlej a reality. Seth Godin, my favorite Internet Marketing Author. He inspired me to build a "permission based" and Viral business. And one of my favorite charity role models is Bono from U2.

One of the charities I am supporting is the Make a Wish Foundation. I am a big Disney fan and am a supporter of the work Make a Wish does to fulfill the dreams and wishes of people all over the world. I want every sick or unfortunate child to experience Disneyland and other great locations. And if I can help by pledging my efforts and uPlej donations to the Make a Wish Foundation then I'm happy to do it!
